Ordinance No. 2226: Single Use Plastics and Expanded Polystyrene Foam Products

On February 13, 2025, the Abington Township Board of Commissioners adopted Ordinance No. 2226, which amends the Township code to add a new chapter entitled "Single-Use Plastics and Expanded Polystyrene Foam Products". 

Effective August 12, 2025, no commercial establishment shall provide any customer with single-use plastics or expanded polystyrene foam (EPS) products. This prohibition applies to bags, stirrers, and other devices used to carry goods away from the point of sale, whether for in-store purchases or takeout deliveries. Single-use plastic straws can only be provided upon request.
